Megan’s Walmart Beauty Box

So I guess I’m on the later ship date for this since I just received my box the day Paige posted her review of it.   This box contained less makeup than the previous ones but it more than made up for it in other items that I really like.

Arm and Hammer Truly Radiant Toothpaste:
Well, not super exciting, but I love a good mint (none of that rubbish spearmint stuff please) and I do love travel sizes. I have to jump on planes often enough for work that these are super handy.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in Medium:
Well, I am a HUGE fan of this. As someone who burns when they even think about going into full sunlight regardless of the SPF slathered on (yes, I am the person they make the 100 spf for…), I’ve known and used this product (in Fair) for years. It goes on easily (especially now that they have the lotion version instead of the spray that got everywhere) and once dried (and it dries quickly) stays where it should and not on your clothes. You won’t regret it. Bonus, it covers up those random bruises that you have no idea how they got there.
Burt’s Bees Lipstick in 511 Magenta Rush:
Not a color I ever would have chosen in the store but after having put it on, I actually really like it. It’s fun, not too orange, goes on really well, has good pigment, and was a little shines without being over powering. Good job Burt. I plan to get a more neutral shade the next time I’m at the store.

Incoco Coconut Nail Art in Fashion Statement #03505:
I’ve used these before and they go on pretty easily. I really like the pattern/colors on these and can see them being accent nails for black polish or something like that. The only warning I will give is that when using these, make sure your nails (the top of your nails) are really smooth. Make sure to clean, buff well, and dry leaving no dust or bumps. Anything left on your nail WILL be extremely visible once the strip is applied.

Schwarzkopf Shampoo and Conditioner Essence Ultime:
Thank you sending both the shampoo AND conditioner. Also, thank you for sending enough of a sample to actually be able to try it out. I’ve been seeing these commercials and am very interested to try it. I’ll report back.

Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented:
Again, this is an item that I use already and really like. This will go into my travel stash as it is small enough to be carried on. LOVE the unscented-ness of it. It does everything it should and doesn’t let anyone but you know that it’s been applied.

Nivea In Shower Lotion:
I think this is the third one of these I’ve received from various boxes and might actually have enough now to be able to try it. Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like a potentially bad idea. Wet tub floor plus very smooth, slick substance equals at best a bruise that is awkward to explain and at worst a trip to the ER. Wish me luck.

Summer Walmart Beauty Box

Paige’s Walmart Beauty box

Paige- This box was a such pleasant surprise! I am usually pretty happy with the Walmart beauty boxes, and end up buying a lot of the samples they send out. It also always comes with excellent coupons. There just seemed to be so MUCH in this box!

Now, here’s what I love about the box:

I LOVE the NYC Brand So that in itself was a great deal. The color is a really pretty rose, that will go well with my complexion. I have tried the Jergens Natural Glow Before, but this seemed to be a little revamped, so I’ll definitely try it out. Nivea brand is great as well, and is perfect to stash in my purse or drop bag for traveling. I like the Neutrogena sunscreen a lot, and this sport sunscreen works really well, so this is another great find. St. Ives is ALWAYS awesome in a box, its the greatest facewash ever, and I’ve been using it since I was in my early teens.

Now for the not so hot stuff:

There is always that one item in any subscription box that the subscriber is just never gonna use. Its hard to make thousands of people happy with EVERYTHING, so I understand that. So, while I considered this box a pretty good one (as $5 subscription boxes go) There were a couple of things that I didn’t really need to see in there.

I have received more Dove Body Washes in the last few months than I have seen in the stores in the last year. I think I got this scent alone in at least three boxes. Needless to say, I’d like to try something different. That being said, however, it will be thrown in my camp bag to be used while on trips, because the travel size is useful. The You and I one direction perfume sample was not my cup of tea. I am REALLY picky when it comes to scent, and this one was not my style at all. And lastly The Neutrogena Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy Shampoo could have been left out. I say it every time, if you send only part of a system, how am I supposed to test out how it works? I would prefer foils packets of the shampoo, conditioner, and styling aids to use at the same time and see if I like the whole system rather than just a portion of the product that doesn’t really tell me much about the whole.

Meg- I walked in from work to find this little gem waiting for me.  If only the A/C hadn’t been waiting for me as well but had miraculously turned itself on (the downside of keeping the energy bill down… :/ )

Well, this box is packed with goodies.  Completely worth the $5.  Up first:
Neutrogena is always a good bet with my sensitive skin, and I enjoy their samples. I received the Healthy Volume mascara  in travel size. Nothing earth shattering, but it’s going in my purse for those days I walk out the door forgetting to put it on.  (It happens more often than I’d like to admit.) I also got the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. This came in their last box too.  That’s not a bad thing as it’s the perfect travel size and is a very good cleanser.
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme is more of a heavy cream.  Definitely a night time one for me.
John Frieda Sea Salt Spray – Well, I’ve never understood salt spray for hair.  My hair is wild enough without putting something in it that makes it harder to work with.  I keep my hair braided at the beach because If i don’t, I come out of the water with one large tangle that takes multiple washings to undo.
Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo- hmmm…I’ll need to see if I like this better than Head and Shoulders.  I like finding alternatives.  Also, there is actually enough in here to cover my hair.  It’s a bit of a shock.
NYC Big Bold 2-in-1 Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner (full size) – honestly, I feel like someone gave me a calligraphy pen of liner and told me to go town.  I can’t quite get either width to go on right.  I think it’s just a practice thing for me but on the plus side, it goes on smoothly and doesn’t smear.
Ken Paves Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner – whelp, these are going into the guest bathroom sample bucket because there isn’t enough of either sample in here to anything but make my hair laugh.  It’s an awesome teal color package though.
Aveeno Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30- This so got used on the 4th.  I love Aveeno lotion, it’s my nightly go-to so I have high hopes for this.  AND the little card attachment (which also has a $2.00 off coupon on it) says they make it in SPF 50.  Here’s to the white girls who burn!
Jergens Natural Glow  (sample size for 3 days) – I actually already use this product.  it’s one of the only tanners I’ve found that doesn’t turn me carroty.  I can’t use this Medium to Tan shade they sent because, well, see above about being white, but, it’s a great product for most people who received this box.
You and I One Direction Eau de Parfum (travel size) – It’s not horrible.  It’s a little sweet for my taste, too much floral, but better than I expected it to be when I saw 5 guys on the front of the card.  I think I’ll still stick with my Burberry but perfume samples are one of my favorites and I hope they keep sending them.
Till next time friends!
Happy beauty boxing!

Spring Walmart Beauty Box (Paige)

This box is always so much fun to get. It’s sent out quarterly and filled with some great samples to try, and always includes awesome coupons.

2015-03-25 23.42.34

Its $5 every three months and comes with the seasons.

This is what came this quarter:

2015-03-25 23.41.55

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara (Black)

2015-03-25 23.43.07

This was full size, (There’s always at least one full size item in this box) and actually goes on pretty smoothly and stays on your lashes, not your face. I was impressed and would buy again. No clumpage or running here folks!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters facial Clenser

2015-03-25 23.45.15

Sample size

This worked well, I threw it in my travel bag for future use, but it took everything off and felt clean, so, I’m calling it good.

Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Mouisture Body Wash

2015-03-25 23.44.35
Wow, did I take a HORRIBLE pic here or what?

This smelled so good, I could not wait to try it. My skin is always dry, so it sucks up any lotion quickly, and the moisturizer in this was no exception. I still needed to use a lotion after my shower. But the smell was divine.

2015-03-25 23.43.31

Essence Omega Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

I like getting both parts of a set so I can see what its like when used correctly. I like these! The shampoo cleaned and rinsed easily, and the conditioner was thick and worked like a mask would have. It left my hair soft and manageable, even with no blow drying.

2015-03-25 23.45.29

Lady Gaga Fame Black Fluid Perfume

Perfume samples are fun, when they smell good. However, more often then not, they smell too sweet, or ripe, or over ripe… you get my drift. I was fully expecting to hate this one, so I was pleasantly surprised when I test sprayed it and actually liked it!

It’s a little sweet and a little rich, but would be a great date night perfume, when used sparingly; I think my husband might even notice it!

2015-03-25 23.42.41

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation

This was a small sample, but worth several uses for me since I use so little foundation on my face, if any. Here’s a tip- I have a bunch of old contact lens cases that I never use, these work well for the little samples that will take me a while to get through and still keep them relatively fresh and ready for use. These are also easier to travel with these than a larger make-up bottle, and easy to clean when your ready for a different product. This works well. It did not transform my face or give me porless skin, but it covered what needed to be covered and worked as a foundation should, it also was nice and matte without being too “made up” looking

2015-03-25 23.42.21

Nivea In shower Body Lotion

I was nervous to use this because it just seems like it would be hard to use. Lotion on wet skin while IN the shower? Seemed to gooey to really be able to rub in. It went on surprisingly easy though and felt very good for a couple hours after I got out. I did still need to apply lotion that night though before bed.

2015-03-25 23.42.08

Garneir Ultra Lift Miracle sleeping Cream

This stuff made my skin feel so nice that I went out and bought a full size as soon as this ran out! (People, I almost NEVER do this) I don’t notice any lifting, but it is smoothing everything out, and makes my skin REALLY soft, which is the reason I loved it. I’ll definitely keep using this.

All of these samples came with great coupons, $2 and $3 off until the end of the year.

All in all, I feel like I have gotten better boxes from Wal-Mart, but for $5 with free shipping, I’m not going to complain, the mascara alone more than paid for the box, so I’m a happy girl.

The boxes can be purchased HERE.

BONUS!!

Target Beauty Boxes went on sale today HERE. You have to grab these fast as they tend to sell out really quickly, $5.00 with some awesome products!
