July Sephora Play Box Review

I absolutely LOVE this months’ Glamp Out theme! I love to be outside, and am an avid camper, so this spoke to me on a deep level. When I camp, I admit, I do wear a bit of makeup. What can I say? I like to look nice, and I feel better when I have a bit of mascara on, and no under eye circles, and SPF! ALWAYS SPF.

wp-image--188509401

Isn’t this an adorable bag as well? It totally reminded me of the summer camp in the original Parent Trap movie. I always wanted to do a long term sleep away camp like that.

wp-image--790853801

I really love this color of Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Swag. The formula is amazing, it slips right on, and does not dry your lips out! It’s also a perfect nude color for me. I am really excited about this color and I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it.

wp-image-1108427876

Next up we have IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara in Black. Its a good formula, and goes on easily. I did not see the dramatic results pictured, however, I only used one coat. I don’t like to wear black mascara, I prefer brown, but I like the way this one looks on me. It was easy to put on, and easy to take off, and it didn’t flake during the day! Win win win.

wp-image-704119326

This is both the mascara and the lip color. Nice and natural!

wp-image--489453266

Milk Makeup Cooling Water Stick was a nice little surprise! I used this mainly for my puffy eyes when I didn’t get enough sleep because the baby was up all night. It works like a charm, goes on light, and with almost no residue. It was very easy to smooth right on, and add makeup immediately after. No waiting for the excess to absorb!

wp-image-1564542569wp-image--1358062722

I was excited to try the Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Mask. Unfortunately, I only used this once because I just could not get past the smell! It is VERY organic, if you get my drift. I did not see much of a difference here, but I could only stand to leave it on for about 10 minutes because, oh man, that smell. Pungent…

wp-image--20747703

This Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray is a nice little item. I use leave-in conditioner every day, so this will definitely get used. The smell is great, and it leaves no residue.

wp-image-109386191

I received this Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine in my first Play Box Last year. The smell is light, fruity,  and perfect for summer, and I am happy to have gotten it again.

Did you all enjoy your boxes this month?

July Ipsy Box Review

With July, came the  HEAT. Here in Southern Ca, it’s hot hot hot. Actually, it’s hot across the US right now, so I suppose I cant really complain.
I am always excited for the summer bags because I hope for some fun bright gloss or maybe a bright blush or highlighter.
wp-image--1506846913
The bag is ok, but I didn’t really like, or get the theme it was promoting, which was Lazy Sunday. That’s not at all what I think about when it comes to mid summer! However, Lazy Beauty, I can get behind! I want out door adventure themes and travel themes, but I digress. Lazy Sunday it is…
Review time!

Megan’s Walmart Beauty Box

IMG_3244
So I guess I’m on the later ship date for this since I just received my box the day Paige posted her review of it.   This box contained less makeup than the previous ones but it more than made up for it in other items that I really like.
20160620_205646.jpg
Arm and Hammer Truly Radiant Toothpaste:
Well, not super exciting, but I love a good mint (none of that rubbish spearmint stuff please) and I do love travel sizes. I have to jump on planes often enough for work that these are super handy.
IMG_3249
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in Medium:
Well, I am a HUGE fan of this. As someone who burns when they even think about going into full sunlight regardless of the SPF slathered on (yes, I am the person they make the 100 spf for…), I’ve known and used this product (in Fair) for years. It goes on easily (especially now that they have the lotion version instead of the spray that got everywhere) and once dried (and it dries quickly) stays where it should and not on your clothes. You won’t regret it. Bonus, it covers up those random bruises that you have no idea how they got there.
Burt’s Bees Lipstick in 511 Magenta Rush:
Not a color I ever would have chosen in the store but after having put it on, I actually really like it. It’s fun, not too orange, goes on really well, has good pigment, and was a little shines without being over powering. Good job Burt. I plan to get a more neutral shade the next time I’m at the store.
IMG_3245
Incoco Coconut Nail Art in Fashion Statement #03505:
I’ve used these before and they go on pretty easily. I really like the pattern/colors on these and can see them being accent nails for black polish or something like that. The only warning I will give is that when using these, make sure your nails (the top of your nails) are really smooth. Make sure to clean, buff well, and dry leaving no dust or bumps. Anything left on your nail WILL be extremely visible once the strip is applied.
IMG_3246
Schwarzkopf Shampoo and Conditioner Essence Ultime:
Thank you sending both the shampoo AND conditioner. Also, thank you for sending enough of a sample to actually be able to try it out. I’ve been seeing these commercials and am very interested to try it. I’ll report back.
IMG_3247
Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented:
Again, this is an item that I use already and really like. This will go into my travel stash as it is small enough to be carried on. LOVE the unscented-ness of it. It does everything it should and doesn’t let anyone but you know that it’s been applied.
IMG_3248
Nivea In Shower Lotion:
I think this is the third one of these I’ve received from various boxes and might actually have enough now to be able to try it. Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like a potentially bad idea. Wet tub floor plus very smooth, slick substance equals at best a bruise that is awkward to explain and at worst a trip to the ER. Wish me luck.

Megan’s Beauty Army Box Review

wp-1468580110547.jpgSo…beauty Army has had a rough few months. It basically fell apart, got a new CEO, tried to get its subscribers to come back by giving multiple promises that things were different and vouchers for free boxes. I fully admit to being skeptical. The old Beauty Army had a very poor sample selection, hit and miss as to whether you actually got the samples you selected, and unreliable delivery.

The new Beauty Army has better sample selection, still not amazing, but pretty good, delivery was smooth, but the actually getting the samples selected is still a bit of a problem. You choose 6 samples from a list of about 20.  Well, I received five samples. I probably wouldn’t have even realized that I was a sample short except that the one that didn’t make it into the box was the one I was really excited about.  Good thing this was a free box. Well, scratch that, technically I had paid for a year’s subscription and only received 5 boxes, so I paid for this… 😒😑🤔
wp-1468580049606.jpgNeutrogena Naturals Makeup Remover Towelettes:
I will always take these when they are available. I use them everyday and this sample pack of 7, is perfect for my travel stash.
wp-1468580071149.jpgBatiste Dry Shampoo
I have the cherry scented version of this (thank you another monthly beauty box) and it works great. Very excited for this unscented version (since I really don’t like products to have specific smells unless it is perfume).
wp-1468580101027.jpgRevlon Bold Lacquer
I REALLY like this!  Went on amazingly well. No clumps, didn’t smudge, nice layering. Usually it takes me half a bottle to get to this ease of use. I can’t wait to see if it holds up. If it does, I’ve found my new go-to!
wp-1468580090847.jpgL’Oreal Revitalift
Pretty good size sample. Feels nice, didn’t leave any residue. Not sure if it will actually be firming and anti-wrinkle but I’ll keep using it just for the moisturizing it provides at night. I wonder how much a full container is…I don’t know that it is really any better than my basic St Ives lotion that I normally use…
wp-1468580059716.jpgScratch Nails Multi Base and Top Coat
I like that it came with a sheet showing all the different colors available.  Nice as a top coat. I won’t be trying it as a base because I am so in love with my Rubberized Base Coat by Orly…(if you don’t have it already, go now and get one. You’re welcome).

Natalie’s May Ipsy Bag review

The Bag

May Ipsy glam Bag

I am on the fence on this bag. I like the idea of it but not necessarily the design I got. I am not a huge fan of the color purple so that’s the main reason. I will definitely use this bag. The size is comparable to other bags we have received but nothing out of the ordinary.

Smashbox X Rated Mascara

2016-05-16 06.54.05
ALL Smashbox mascaras are amazing. This one is no
exception. The brush was a bit interesting. I actually stopped to look at it in detail before
applying the product because it was such an odd shape. It applied well and I was able to also use it on my lower lashes with no product hitting my cheeks or under eye area. I really like this mascara and will definitely use it.

Hikari Cosmetics Shimmer Bronzer

2016-05-16 06.55.26

I adore Hikari products! I got the blush in my Ipsy bag a few months ago and it is now one of my go to products when I want a bright pink blush with great pigmentation. This product was no exception. I applied this product this morning for a general overall flush effect and it worked beautifully. The four colors in the compact blend well together and give a beautiful pink/brown color. There are little sparkles in one corner and that adds a bit of shimmer to the overall effect which I love. I highly recommend this product and Hikari products in general. Love it!

INSPR Eye Fluff Brush

Screen Shot 2016-05-25 at 12.06.58 PM

I used this today to apply my shadow in the crease. It worked really
well and applied the product evenly. I can always use a good crease brush and this is a perfect addition to my collection. The bristles are soft and pick up a decent amount of product with just one swipe.

Soo AE 3 Collagen Essence Sheet Mask Set

Screen Shot 2016-05-25 at 12.08.30 PM

I am giving this away because I honestly won’t
use it. I will most likely try to trade it with someone for something I will actually use and if not, will give it away as a gift. I know Ipsy is always trying to promote new partners but seriously? I won’t use this. Never have and probably never will. Stop sending me stuff I specifically say I will not use, please. UGH.

Epice Hydrating Mask

Screen Shot 2016-05-25 at 12.09.08 PM

Yet another product I will not use. I will try to trade it to someone for something better. I am frustrated with this month’s selections as this is the second item I will not be using/have no use for. Yes, it’s only $10 a month for this stuff but I want to get things I will actually use and not throw/give away. What a disappointment

Natalies’ April 2016 Ipsy Bag Review

The Bag:

2016-04-18 16.31.39

Not my favorite bag in terms of looks but still a cute one. There have been
others I have loathed getting but this one is not one of them. I will definitely be using it in
the future.

13023496_10154122191967171_1420743306_n
L.A.B. Live and Breathe Beauty “Just Blending In” brush

The brush is a nice size, blending brush. The bristles are soft and pick up product well. I was able to use this brush as both a transition shade brush and an accent shade brush. I can definitely see myself using it regularly. It is not as soft as say a Morphe brush or even an ELF brush but it is still a nice texture.

13015067_10154122191962171_669850677_n

Nudestix Lip & Cheek Pencil in “Mystic”

The product comes in nice packaging and applies
smoothly. It almost has a cream finish look to it. That makes sense as it is also being marketed as a blush. I only had to apply once around the lips to get a great color payoff. Overall a great nude lip product.

13020339_10154122191957171_1642309646_n
Ren Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream

Wow! This product is amazing! I was
a little skeptical about it when I first opened it but after applying it, I know I will purchase it in the future! The lotion has a semi strong scent that fades after applying and the product goes on smoothly and easily. Usually when I apply my face cream, it takes two attempts before my skin feels moisturized and not “tight”. That was not the case at all with this product. I could feel it absorbing into the skin and when I woke up with morning, it was still doing the job and my skin felt incredible. I love this lotion!

13022397_10154122191972171_614393653_n
Buxom Cosmetics Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid lipstick in “Centerfold”

This product is…interesting. It is being marketed as a liquid lipstick and it really isn’t. I would compare this product and consistency to the Maybelline Vivid Matte liquid lipstick. It goes on smoothly, like a gloss, but does appear matte. It does not dry the lips and the color payoff is great. I am just thrown off by the label of “liquid lipstick” as it isn’t. I love the brand and wear products of theirs but in this case, would prob not purchase this again as it is so similar to the Vivid Matte lipsticks. Maybelline is cheaper. 🙂

Moroccan Oil Moroccan Oil treatment

I’ve used this product in the past. It is nice but not for
me. I already have healthy hair and don’t need this product. I didn’t even use this. I traded it for a lipstick from someone else who also gets Ipsy. I also don’t really like the scent either.

Looks like Natalie had a great bag this month! How did you like yours?

Generation Beauty By Ipsy 2015 ( Day One) – Write Up by Blake and Guest Bloger Erica

IMG_0266
My cute name badge! We are ready to start our beauty adventure!

Wow where do I even begin with this crazy weekend of Gen Beauty?

Well, The beginning, I guess! To start, finding the location was not the easiest thing do, and I am not saying this because I don’t live in LA, but because the directions were horrible! Luckily, we were not the only people that were lost. There were like 90 people, no joke, that were milling about asking for directions.
Epp! We're Here!
Eep! We’re here! Finally.
We did finally find the place, after parking in the wrong structure, and walking WAY out of our way, thanks to the lies Google told us about where we were going. (Thanks Google Maps!)  Once we found the address, we became slightly more confused because it was another parking structure. (We were pretty sure we were being punked at this point, because really?) It seemed that we were in the right place though, because there were several people heading up the stairs or into the elevators. At the risk of sounding cliche, we followed the crowd! We Had finally found it! We excitedly headed for registration to get our badges which were adorable, and we received a mini permanent maker to write our names. Then we got to wait.
Wow, that's a bunch o' people...
Wow, that’s a bunch o’ people…
And wait… And….. wait some more, in the heat with only about five umbrellas for about 4,000 people. They did give us a box of water (strange, but cool) and a nice tote to look through while we waited, but people, it was HOT out there. The end of May in Southern California is usually around 90 degrees, and this sunny Saturday was no exception.
First look?
First look
After waiting for what seemed like hours, we were ushered into a massive white event tent. We were a bit surprised to find that this grand event was held in a tent, but they did some pretty neat things with what they had. The first vendor was Sephora. They asked if we would like a makeup touch up, and how can you say no to that? (duh)  It was free and done by professionals. They told us about every method they were using, as well as what products, which we loved. After our touch ups, we got to play a quick game and win a free prize.
IMG_0279
Our makeup guru from Sephora. She did a great job, no?

Once both of us were done we thought “what now?”. It looked like a cluster**** in a huge white tent! There was no concept of lines that we could conceive, just huge globs of people at each vendor. In the end, we decided to simply walk around and try to figure out what the “must sees” were for us. Upon further investigation we realized that there were a lot of vendors who were doing touch-ups (however, no one mentioned to me that we probably should have started with clean, makeup free faces, so they were skipped). The next revelation was that we needed to pick a line and pick it fast, as it was becoming increasingly crowded.

IMG_0306
So many people, so little organization!

Once we had our bearings, we headed for the NYX line which ended up being two lines. In one, we got to vote for a You-Tuber and get a free popsicle. (YUMMO) Then, after we voted, we took pictures to get a free item.

A much needed treat
A much needed treat.

The popsicle wasn’t bad at all, and after waiting in both lines we received two free full size lip glosses, a NYX tote and 40% off all their products! Not bad right? NYX was definitely the longest wait with the most people for the first day.

Pictures to get free stuff? Heck Yeah!
Pictures to get free stuff? Heck Yeah!

After the fun of shopping we decided to check out each vendor to see what their freebies were. There were a couple good ones, like LA Girl and IT cosmetics, who also gave us wonderful tote bags with a coupon or a lipstick. Actually, the majority of vendors had something to give us, which was awesome. Not something little either! Of course there were a few who gave out travel sized items, but mostly we either received full size, or a couple travel sized items from each vendor.

Love this stuff
Love this stuff

The only issue for me was, that even though there were a lot of vendors, who were giving away these awesome items, it didn’t seem like there was much for sale. Yes, they were informing us of their new and upcoming items, but we weren’t able to actually BUY much. If I am going to an event, and I love the products that are featured, then I really want to be able to buy the products at the event, not write them down or take pictures to go by later. Isn’t that why we were there? To get a first glimpse of new items? What better way to do that than allow us to purchase said items? Seems to make more sense to me. But I digress…

IMG_0256
Getting a little closer…
Once we understood how this whole tamale was going to work, we decided to grab some lunch. This was an adventure in itself! There were these great food trucks, but not enough seating. With very little shade in the area, we had a slightly uncomfortable meal standing there in the sun, hovering over other people who were sitting and trying to squeeze in where we could.
We love us some yummy food truck grub!
We love us some yummy food truck grub!

Once we came back from lunch, with tans and full bellies, we formed our game plan. We had wanted to see a couple You-Tubers but it was super hectic because there was really no set panel location, they were just out in the open, in the middle of the tent, talking about their vlogs in big crowds, which was not for us. It would have been nice to have placed them in a separate room (or area, as it were) where they could be heard over the din and we could maybe sit down.

IMG_0281
Believe IT wall
After getting more freebies we were handed the ULTIMATE glam bag for day 1. Once we had the bag in our hot little hands, everything became right in our universe. It went a LONG way in making up for the disheveled way our day went. With only thirty minutes left of day one, we dragged our selves to dinner and our hotel to catch some shut eye and rest up for day 2!

Spring Walmart Beauty Box (Paige)

This box is always so much fun to get. It’s sent out quarterly and filled with some great samples to try, and always includes awesome coupons.

2015-03-25 23.42.34

Its $5 every three months and comes with the seasons.

This is what came this quarter:

2015-03-25 23.41.55

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara (Black)

2015-03-25 23.43.07

This was full size, (There’s always at least one full size item in this box) and actually goes on pretty smoothly and stays on your lashes, not your face. I was impressed and would buy again. No clumpage or running here folks!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters facial Clenser

2015-03-25 23.45.15

Sample size

This worked well, I threw it in my travel bag for future use, but it took everything off and felt clean, so, I’m calling it good.

Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Mouisture Body Wash

2015-03-25 23.44.35
Wow, did I take a HORRIBLE pic here or what?

This smelled so good, I could not wait to try it. My skin is always dry, so it sucks up any lotion quickly, and the moisturizer in this was no exception. I still needed to use a lotion after my shower. But the smell was divine.

2015-03-25 23.43.31

Essence Omega Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

I like getting both parts of a set so I can see what its like when used correctly. I like these! The shampoo cleaned and rinsed easily, and the conditioner was thick and worked like a mask would have. It left my hair soft and manageable, even with no blow drying.

2015-03-25 23.45.29

Lady Gaga Fame Black Fluid Perfume

Perfume samples are fun, when they smell good. However, more often then not, they smell too sweet, or ripe, or over ripe… you get my drift. I was fully expecting to hate this one, so I was pleasantly surprised when I test sprayed it and actually liked it!

It’s a little sweet and a little rich, but would be a great date night perfume, when used sparingly; I think my husband might even notice it!

2015-03-25 23.42.41

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation

This was a small sample, but worth several uses for me since I use so little foundation on my face, if any. Here’s a tip- I have a bunch of old contact lens cases that I never use, these work well for the little samples that will take me a while to get through and still keep them relatively fresh and ready for use. These are also easier to travel with these than a larger make-up bottle, and easy to clean when your ready for a different product. This works well. It did not transform my face or give me porless skin, but it covered what needed to be covered and worked as a foundation should, it also was nice and matte without being too “made up” looking

2015-03-25 23.42.21

Nivea In shower Body Lotion

I was nervous to use this because it just seems like it would be hard to use. Lotion on wet skin while IN the shower? Seemed to gooey to really be able to rub in. It went on surprisingly easy though and felt very good for a couple hours after I got out. I did still need to apply lotion that night though before bed.

2015-03-25 23.42.08

Garneir Ultra Lift Miracle sleeping Cream

This stuff made my skin feel so nice that I went out and bought a full size as soon as this ran out! (People, I almost NEVER do this) I don’t notice any lifting, but it is smoothing everything out, and makes my skin REALLY soft, which is the reason I loved it. I’ll definitely keep using this.

All of these samples came with great coupons, $2 and $3 off until the end of the year.

All in all, I feel like I have gotten better boxes from Wal-Mart, but for $5 with free shipping, I’m not going to complain, the mascara alone more than paid for the box, so I’m a happy girl.

The boxes can be purchased HERE.

BONUS!!

Target Beauty Boxes went on sale today HERE. You have to grab these fast as they tend to sell out really quickly, $5.00 with some awesome products!

March Glossy Box Review (Megan and Paige)

2015-03-24 16.17.40
Paige’s Glossy Box
unnamed5
Megan’s Glossy Box
We LOVE Glossy Box. It never fails to impress and amuse. Both of us love to get the fun new products every month that are tailored specifically to our profiles. This specific box is no exception and chock full of goodies!
unnamedMegan– I received Tree Hut Shea Body Butter in Coconut Lime  – Heaven.  Heaven in a petite package.  It smells like the tropics are all around.  It goes on like silk, soaks in quickly, leaves smooth skin and no residue. $6.37 Value
2015-03-24 16.20.53Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple (We Both Got this!) $10 value
Megan– This a a great little  liner.  It goes on well and stays, so if you get it somewhere you didn’t mean to, it isn’t going to wipe away easily.  I may have had to redo half my face this morning when I sneezed while applying and had a line from my cheek to my eye brow…Ok, I did have to.
Paige– I was so impressed with this liner. I love purple eye makeup, and I rarely find a good enough product that is subtle enough to wear every day, but purple enough to highlight my eyes nicely. Megan is right though, I needed an eye makeup remover to get this off my face at the end of the day, and my hand after a curious mishap that i still can’t figure out.

2015-03-24 16.19.53

2015-03-25 23.49.32
Paige swatched this way to early in the morning

Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Stain in Pink – (Another Item we both received ) $12.99

Megan and Paige– We admit, we were both hesitant to try this.  The color was scary. It was bubblegum pink…(See Megan’s March Boxy Charm Review)   You have to go easy with it. Lots of blending.  But, when applied correctly, it is very clean and pretty.  Just a hint of flush to make you look glow-y and healthy. It even worked as an eye shadow!
This pot will last a long long time.
unnamed1Ouidad 12 Minute Deep Treatment
Megan– My hair needs this.  Badly.  I haven’t tried it yet because it is a little labor intensive to use.  First I need to buy a shower cap and then I need to unearth my hairdryer from…. somewhere…  I hope it’s as good as it says it is. $26 value for a sample size
2015-03-24 16.19.35
Orogold Cosmetics 24K Multi-vitamin Day Moisturizer – (We got a lot of the same this month)
This is a very heavy cream.  A little goes a very long way.  Both of us feel that we couldn’t use this as a day moisturizer like it says because nothing went on well on top of it, even after we let it soak.  That being said, this makes an outstanding, just-before-bed-on-a-clean-face moisturizer because it really does feel good.  (bonus, there were two of these minuscule pots in our boxes!). Value estimated at $25 per sample
2015-03-24 16.19.20
Nexxus Color Assure Shampoo
Paige– I’m all for sample and full size trials of beauty products, but I would so rather have a small sample of a SET, than a full size sample of something that wont work properly when not used in conjunction with the other items in the set.
Ok, rant over, on to the review. I didn’t like this product at all after I used it. The smell was nice, but that was it. I don’t have colored hair, so, while I can always use a good deep conditioner, a shampoo for colored hair does not work for me, other than make my hair greasy, and weirdly dry at the same time. It might have worked better had it been used with the correct conditioner, but, we’ll never know. Value Estimated at about $15 for deluxe sample size
2015-03-24 16.20.39 2015-03-25 23.52.40
So Susan Concealer Quad-
Paige– Valued at $37.14, this little gem has everything you need to conceal all sorts of imperfections. It’s an awesome blend of four great shades to cover anything you want. Its also 100% cruelty free and not tested on animals. (A HUGE plus for me) The concealers them selves are lightweight, and super sheer, though when blended properly, can offer amazing coverage. The darker colors are also great for contouring.
All in all, these boxes were valued from $105.36 to $125.13. For a monthly payment of $21, its a great value. Even though there were one or two things we didn’t like (On Paige’s end anyways), we still both feel its worth the money. Glossy box hasn’t’ let us down yet, and we are always waiting for the next awesome treat!

Flower Power was the theme for March’s Ipsy Bag, and while it is a cute for spring, we were a tad disappointed that it was not St. Patrick’s day themed. (Only because green is one of Paige’s favorite colors). That Being said, one of our favorite parts of Ipsy is the fun bags that the products come in every month. So, while this month’s wasn’t our favorite design ever, we liked the blue and yellow combo with the pops of pink.  It makes us think spring is actually on the way.

Reviews

Paige- I was the only one who received the Sexy Hair Argan Creme Oil, and it intrigued me. I use oil on my hair regularly, but hair creme is something new to me. It is meant for use as a blow dry agent, but it might be more useful to me as a setting creme, since I am more likely to curl my hair than blow dry it. It does have a micro sheen to it though, so beware if you are not a fan of micro glitter. It also seemed to take some of the sheen out of my hair, which is weird since the shine seems to be built into the product. The Price I found was $7 on Amazon For the travel size.

I  also received Dr. Brandt Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion. This is not something that I have used in the past, so I’m pleased to see it in this bag! I am almost at the end of a sample of a similar product and I have heard rave reviews about this brand, so I’m really excited to try it out. Estimating at $15 for the sample since a 1.7 oz can be found on Sephora for $60

IMG_20150317_1Paige-I LOVE Lip gloss, in fact, I hoard it like its going out of style. Lipstick, however, isn’t really my thing. Oh but THIS NYX Butter Lipstick in Little Suzie,  goes on SO smooth and glossy. I might be converted if all lipsticks felt like this! Bonus- Its full size! $6 on NYX Website

Megan-I really like NYX, Its affordable and has great pigmentation. Pops NYXExplosif is a great neutral color! Its more a stain than a lipstick. I love that it glides on so well, but the shine doesn’t last long. I might use it under a lip balm that will be refreshed throughout the day or as a base under a gloss.  I have a feeling this will become a staple for me.  Next time I see NYX, I’ll be looking for a slightly lighter shade of this exact thing.

BLAKE-  At first sight I was disappointed because my skin doesn’t normally mesh well with dark colors. However I did a total 360 when I put on this lipstick. Holy cow! I love how it goes on my lips so smooth, like butter! Ha! Just like in the name. This plum color is not as dark as it reads in the tube, which is also a plus. I would wear this out and about. If I was going to rate this item I would give it 5 Ipsy bags, stars, whatever.

2015-03-16 06.53.56Paige- Ipsy hit this one out of the park for me, since I LOVE copper eye shadows. I feel like the color highlights my green eyes perfectly.  This Marsk eyeshadow is Lucky Penny, and lives up to its name. It was easy to apply, no blending or fancy brushwork needed here. It reads dark at first glance, but goes on sheer and is easily build-able if you want a more dramatic look. This is also a spectacular color for those blue eyed gals. Full Size at 1.2 Grams and $22.50 on Marsk Website

Megan-I also got the Marsk shadow, in Fifty Shades. You’ll need a lot of layering to get to a deep gray because it goes on sheer.  I like to use multiple colors and blend them together on the lid, so I want shadow to go on in the color it appears to be immediately, not after 10 layers (who has the time?).  That being said, if you’re like Paige, this is a very nice, easy way to get a shimmer of gray across the entire lid quickly and walk out the door.  Used that way it is good for the office.  Bring it with you, add a few more coats before leaving the office and you can have a fun evening out with the girls and get a  pop of color without veering into Gothic territory.

2015-03-16 07.00.42Paige- If I’m being totally honest, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with this highlighter because the color is much lighter than I usually use, and goes on thick,  so if you guys have suggestions, please let me know! It might come in handy for Inner eye brightening, a base for pastels, or lining my water line when I want to look more awake. Full Size is $16.74 on Amazon

Megan- Ah, the highlighter pencil that I can’t read.  This is my least favorite product of the bunch.  Good color for brow highlighting, but it went on sort of heavy (it either went on heavy or not at all) and didn’t blend well.  When it’s near the delicate skin of my eyes, it needs to blend easily and go on smoothly.  It will go into the pile of costume makeup for when I need super bold looks, but this is definitely not going into my everyday wear.

Blake-This highlighter is the one that did not work for me at all. Its not light enough that I would use as an accent, and it goes on so thick, like a crayon. I don’t like waxy products because it feels like I’m wearing tons of makeup when I’m not. This is a big ‘ole zero for me.

hair oilMegan-  I received Coolway Hair Oil this month. I’ve never used hair oil before.  While it’s not greasy, my hair produces enough of it’s own oil that I would never go out and buy more to add to it.  That being said, I’ve always liked trying new things and if this can tame even a few of my flyaways, it might be worth it.  Maybe it’s just me and the amount of hair I have, but I feel like I’d have to use the whole  bottle to just get it in evenly.  I only used what the directions suggested and tried to spread it as evenly as possible.  I was sure that I’d get up in the morning and find that one section of my hair would be slick and that would be the end of it.  To my delight, there was no particular section that was especially greasy.  On the flip side, there was no particular shine or any smoothing of my hair either.  Time to try a little bit on the dry hair like the bottle suggests.  The end result: I have some very nice, shiny, sleek flyaways sprouting from my head.  It certainly didn’t help keep anything down (although I don’t really know that anything short of a clay mask would) but the dry application of the oil (used sparingly) gave my pony tail a nice sheen.  I won’t be going out and buying this by the bucket load, but this little bottle should last me the better part of a month the way I’m using it.

Face washI also received the Pur-Lisse Cleanser.  My skin actively rejects most things that come into contact with it, so using new products can be risky. While this makes for reasonably clear skin, it makes finding a good cleanser (and foundation) a challenge. The best I can say for this product is that it didn’t irritate my skin.  It also didn’t remove my makeup very well. This is one that I might use in the after having used an actual makeup remover. It will stay in that corner of the bathroom that holds the random things I use when I run out of my usual suspects and haven’t made a Target run. Hey, it didn’t end up in the trash which is where a lot of skin products go for me.

Blake- I guess I was the odd man out this month as I received several different products! Pixi by Petra in Apricot Glow was a great find. I definitely judged this book by its cover. They looked like they were going to be either very light or very dark, and when I wore them separately they did just that. But woah mama when I combined them they completed my casual look for work and a dinner with the girls. I give it 4 ipsy bags.
Acure (day cream)2524-First off, this smells amazing, I mean just like oranges! Who wouldn’t like that for morning cream? (Crazy people, that’s who) With any cream that I put on my face I always feel like it leaves a film on my face.Though this, my friends, does not do that, my face feels so smooth, I love it! This is a huge 5 IPSY BAGS for me.
Skyn (Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels)
2509This item is OK. I don’t hate it or love it. I mean, it does exactly what it says, and feels like cool ice cubes which I did like, but they were kind of big for my under eyes (I’m very petite, so my facial structure is much smaller). In the end I will probably use maybe once or even twice a month but that’s it.
3 Ipsy bags

All in all, a very fun bag of goodies, and over $60 value for one bag!  As always, we can’t wait for next month!  Way to go, Ipsy. 🙂
