Not my favorite bag in terms of looks but still a cute one. There have been
others I have loathed getting but this one is not one of them. I will definitely be using it in
L.A.B. Live and Breathe Beauty “Just Blending In” brush
The brush is a nice size, blending brush. The bristles are soft and pick up product well. I was able to use this brush as both a transition shade brush and an accent shade brush. I can definitely see myself using it regularly. It is not as soft as say a Morphe brush or even an ELF brush but it is still a nice texture.
Nudestix Lip & Cheek Pencil in “Mystic”
The product comes in nice packaging and applies
smoothly. It almost has a cream finish look to it. That makes sense as it is also being marketed as a blush. I only had to apply once around the lips to get a great color payoff. Overall a great nude lip product.
Ren Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream
Wow! This product is amazing! I was
a little skeptical about it when I first opened it but after applying it, I know I will purchase it in the future! The lotion has a semi strong scent that fades after applying and the product goes on smoothly and easily. Usually when I apply my face cream, it takes two attempts before my skin feels moisturized and not “tight”. That was not the case at all with this product. I could feel it absorbing into the skin and when I woke up with morning, it was still doing the job and my skin felt incredible. I love this lotion!
Buxom Cosmetics Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid lipstick in “Centerfold”
This product is…interesting. It is being marketed as a liquid lipstick and it really isn’t. I would compare this product and consistency to the Maybelline Vivid Matte liquid lipstick. It goes on smoothly, like a gloss, but does appear matte. It does not dry the lips and the color payoff is great. I am just thrown off by the label of “liquid lipstick” as it isn’t. I love the brand and wear products of theirs but in this case, would prob not purchase this again as it is so similar to the Vivid Matte lipsticks. Maybelline is cheaper. 🙂
Moroccan Oil Moroccan Oil treatment
I’ve used this product in the past. It is nice but not for
me. I already have healthy hair and don’t need this product. I didn’t even use this. I traded it for a lipstick from someone else who also gets Ipsy. I also don’t really like the scent either.
Looks like Natalie had a great bag this month! How did you like yours?
Paige– I thought the bag was really cute! Its not my favorite, but it’s still something I’ll use.
Blake– Ok can I just start off by saying that I love, really love, this bag. Unfortunately out of the kindness of my heart, I gave it to my mother because it matches her luggage set.
Paige– This is a pretty summer color. I am not sure if it works with my skin tone yet, but I am going to keep trying because I think its a really pretty neutral.
Blake– I love this lipstick. It applies so smooth and the shade is not to bright and not to dull for me. I also love this brand of cosmetics. I give this 5/5 Ipsy bags amazing product.
Eco Beauty Good Night Night Cream
Paige– I took this camping with me to Big Bear this weekend, and it was nice to have something that worked SO well for hydration. It is not gooey, and does not leave an oily film, but moisturizes fully and keeps your skin moisturized until you wake up. I noticed a difference in moisture after one use.
Glam Dolls Eye Shadow in Sorcery
Paige– I have to hand it to Ipsy, they do take your coloring into account. The problem is that they also send a lot of the same colors in different brands. I Have received a lot of eye shadows similar to this one. I do like the color however, and it will get used. It went on easily, and blended easily.
Marc Anthony Argan Oil of Morocco
Paige– This is very nice. I use hair oil pretty regularly to tame my ends, and I like this product and the brand as well. The sample size is large, as they go, and will last for some time.
Blake– Well I do love Moroccan hair oil to a point. My hair likes to hold oil in so I don’t like to use them that much. I loved this travel size because it just fits so perfect in my to-go bag. It did make my hair silky, smooth and gave it a shine and what girl doesn’t like that? I give this product 4 ipsy bags.
Paige– It’s nice to get a lip liner and not an eye liner! This was a good color and helped to tone down the pink lipstick perfectly!
Blake– I am usually really picky with blush but this product was awesome. It glides on and sets perfect. At first when I saw the term hydrogel I thought it was going to be sticky and thick, but that is not how it is at all. This is another 5 bags. 🙂
Blake– I was very disappointed with the color of this product. It says nude but it is brown. I will probably try it as a lip color mixed with another color but lip liner no thank you. Very sad 1 bag.
Blake– This product was not bad and not amazing. It was just ordinary face wash with average smell. So I give this 3 bags.
All in all we loved this bag!
What did you get in your Ipsy this month?
Wow, we got the exact same Glossy Box this month, which is a rarity, because we are so different as far as what we prefer to wear. Here’s what we thought:
Paige’s Thoughts– I thought it was a good box this month! There were good products, all good sizes and probably one that I will go out and buy for my self. However, I would like samples of brands that I am more familiar with as well.
Meg’s Thoughts– This was quite the month for glossy box. Highs and Lows. Two SUPER products that I will be going out to get again, one really pretty product, one that was fine (just sort of eh…totally me, not GB), and 1 DUD.
Glam Glow Power Mud
Meg– First, I am a huge fan of Glam Glow. That being said, this was no exception. Went on easily, you can feel it working as it dries and I loved how it felt washing off in the shower. I just wish the effects lasted a little longer. I could see the difference for about 24 hours.
Paige– I had never tried this but have heard some awesome things about it, so I was really excited to see this in my box. It works just like it says it will, my skin was tighter and smoother, and as with most mud masks, you actually feel it tightening and working while it’s on. Like Megan said though, I wish the effects lasted a bit longer, but it makes skin super smooth for a day or two.
Meg– Okay, I was a bit skeptical, but…I loved it! I really needed to be careful not to rub too hard. That being said, my skin was smooth afterwards and felt awesome. I kept touching my face and having to slap my own hand away. The only downside is that the granules that you wipe/wash off get everywhere. Next time I am definitely using this in the shower. I had to Swiffer my bathroom floor and I still feel the little buggers.
Paige– I actually thought this was a hair product at first, because of the name. Good thing I read the packaging before I tried it! This is a face scrub that is supposed to clean and smooth your skin. And it did do that… But, it also made huge mess, i.e., miniscule pellets EVERYWHERE, even after rinsing several times. This is definitely an in-shower product. My skin was crazy smooth after the first use though, and ladies, try it on you decolletage, and thank me later.
Megs– I admit it. I’m hopeless when it comes to using hairspray. It just doesn’t do anything to my hair unless I have enough in there to make it look and feel like a shellacked helmet. On the plus side, if my bathing suit starts riding up during photo shoots (yeah…) I have just the thing (thank you, Miss Congeniality).
Paige– I really don’t use hairspray that much either, so this is just kind of “meh” for me. It seemed to work just fine and it’s supposed to have more benefits for your hair than other sprays, so on those super rare occasions when I do need it, I’ll be comfortable pulling this out. I did notice that, unlike other aerosol sprays, that can result in a sticky mess if your not careful, this dried in no time, not leaving a bad residue. It also smelled pretty good!
Megs– Best thing about this? The box. (Paige was too excited to remove it from the box to get a good picture though. Sorry Guys!) It’s awesome. Such fun colors and designs. The polish is good too. It’s a base coat. Goes on nicely, not too thick. nothing outstanding, but a solid product. I would get it just for the box.
Paige– This was so cute! I love pretty packaging and this was no exception. I also love when it’s pretty and WORKS well. This does what it’s supposed to. It went on well, and dried smooth. It seemed to dry quickly as well, which is a plus because I’m always in a rush. My nail polish went on smoothly over the top with no smearing and has pretty much stayed in place for at least 4 days as of this review. I would LOVE to try out a color from this line for summer. Bonus for me! (And this is ’cause I’m strange) I love that it comes in a square bottle that’s skinny enough to shove into an over-packed makeup bag.
Megs– This is everything I dislike about lipsticks. First, the color is just bad for me. It has almost gray-purple undertones which make me look like I’m severely ill even in full foundation. Second, it did not go on well. It was almost dry and when I tried putting a bit of chapstick on first, the color wouldn’t apply. Third, once on, it showed every ridge, bump, line, etc. My lips aren’t super duper smooth but they are a darn sight better than this made them look. Into the trash it went and people, I NEVER throw makeup samples out (unless they are old).
Paige– Wow, it’s like we are talking about two different lipsticks! I thought this was a really pretty matte pinky nude shade, perfect for my skin tone. I am excited about the matte lipstick trend and wanted to try it. While I was really happy with the consistency and staying power once the color was on my lips, it was really hard to get on because it was so sticky (possibly because it was the first application?). It might become easier with use though, so I will keep trying. Bonus, it stayed on through my daily run, so I’m really happy!
Update- The second time I applied, it went on much more like regular lipstick should, and kept its staying power.

IPSY is a monthly subscription bag that is $10 a month for monthly subscriptions. The cost lowers as you subscribe for longer. Each month you will receive 5 deluxe or full size beauty samples and a cute makeup bag designed exclusively for Ispy subscribers.
Flower Power was the theme for March’s Ipsy Bag, and while it is a cute for spring, we were a tad disappointed that it was not St. Patrick’s day themed. (Only because green is one of Paige’s favorite colors). That Being said, one of our favorite parts of Ipsy is the fun bags that the products come in every month. So, while this month’s wasn’t our favorite design ever, we liked the blue and yellow combo with the pops of pink. It makes us think spring is actually on the way.
Paige- I was the only one who received the Sexy Hair Argan Creme Oil, and it intrigued me. I use oil on my hair regularly, but hair creme is something new to me. It is meant for use as a blow dry agent, but it might be more useful to me as a setting creme, since I am more likely to curl my hair than blow dry it. It does have a micro sheen to it though, so beware if you are not a fan of micro glitter. It also seemed to take some of the sheen out of my hair, which is weird since the shine seems to be built into the product. The Price I found was $7 on Amazon For the travel size.
I also received Dr. Brandt Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion. This is not something that I have used in the past, so I’m pleased to see it in this bag! I am almost at the end of a sample of a similar product and I have heard rave reviews about this brand, so I’m really excited to try it out. Estimating at $15 for the sample since a 1.7 oz can be found on Sephora for $60
Paige-I LOVE Lip gloss, in fact, I hoard it like its going out of style. Lipstick, however, isn’t really my thing. Oh but THIS NYX Butter Lipstick in Little Suzie, goes on SO smooth and glossy. I might be converted if all lipsticks felt like this! Bonus- Its full size! $6 on NYX Website
Megan-I really like NYX, Its affordable and has great pigmentation. Pops Explosif is a great neutral color! Its more a stain than a lipstick. I love that it glides on so well, but the shine doesn’t last long. I might use it under a lip balm that will be refreshed throughout the day or as a base under a gloss. I have a feeling this will become a staple for me. Next time I see NYX, I’ll be looking for a slightly lighter shade of this exact thing.
BLAKE- At first sight I was disappointed because my skin doesn’t normally mesh well with dark colors. However I did a total 360 when I put on this lipstick. Holy cow! I love how it goes on my lips so smooth, like butter! Ha! Just like in the name. This plum color is not as dark as it reads in the tube, which is also a plus. I would wear this out and about. If I was going to rate this item I would give it 5 Ipsy bags, stars, whatever.
Paige- Ipsy hit this one out of the park for me, since I LOVE copper eye shadows. I feel like the color highlights my green eyes perfectly. This Marsk eyeshadow is Lucky Penny, and lives up to its name. It was easy to apply, no blending or fancy brushwork needed here. It reads dark at first glance, but goes on sheer and is easily build-able if you want a more dramatic look. This is also a spectacular color for those blue eyed gals. Full Size at 1.2 Grams and $22.50 on Marsk Website
Megan-I also got the Marsk shadow, in Fifty Shades. You’ll need a lot of layering to get to a deep gray because it goes on sheer. I like to use multiple colors and blend them together on the lid, so I want shadow to go on in the color it appears to be immediately, not after 10 layers (who has the time?). That being said, if you’re like Paige, this is a very nice, easy way to get a shimmer of gray across the entire lid quickly and walk out the door. Used that way it is good for the office. Bring it with you, add a few more coats before leaving the office and you can have a fun evening out with the girls and get a pop of color without veering into Gothic territory.
Paige- If I’m being totally honest, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with this highlighter because the color is much lighter than I usually use, and goes on thick, so if you guys have suggestions, please let me know! It might come in handy for Inner eye brightening, a base for pastels, or lining my water line when I want to look more awake. Full Size is $16.74 on Amazon
Megan- Ah, the highlighter pencil that I can’t read. This is my least favorite product of the bunch. Good color for brow highlighting, but it went on sort of heavy (it either went on heavy or not at all) and didn’t blend well. When it’s near the delicate skin of my eyes, it needs to blend easily and go on smoothly. It will go into the pile of costume makeup for when I need super bold looks, but this is definitely not going into my everyday wear.
Blake-This highlighter is the one that did not work for me at all. Its not light enough that I would use as an accent, and it goes on so thick, like a crayon. I don’t like waxy products because it feels like I’m wearing tons of makeup when I’m not. This is a big ‘ole zero for me.
Megan- I received Coolway Hair Oil this month. I’ve never used hair oil before. While it’s not greasy, my hair produces enough of it’s own oil that I would never go out and buy more to add to it. That being said, I’ve always liked trying new things and if this can tame even a few of my flyaways, it might be worth it. Maybe it’s just me and the amount of hair I have, but I feel like I’d have to use the whole bottle to just get it in evenly. I only used what the directions suggested and tried to spread it as evenly as possible. I was sure that I’d get up in the morning and find that one section of my hair would be slick and that would be the end of it. To my delight, there was no particular section that was especially greasy. On the flip side, there was no particular shine or any smoothing of my hair either. Time to try a little bit on the dry hair like the bottle suggests. The end result: I have some very nice, shiny, sleek flyaways sprouting from my head. It certainly didn’t help keep anything down (although I don’t really know that anything short of a clay mask would) but the dry application of the oil (used sparingly) gave my pony tail a nice sheen. I won’t be going out and buying this by the bucket load, but this little bottle should last me the better part of a month the way I’m using it.
I also received the Pur-Lisse Cleanser. My skin actively rejects most things that come into contact with it, so using new products can be risky. While this makes for reasonably clear skin, it makes finding a good cleanser (and foundation) a challenge. The best I can say for this product is that it didn’t irritate my skin. It also didn’t remove my makeup very well. This is one that I might use in the after having used an actual makeup remover. It will stay in that corner of the bathroom that holds the random things I use when I run out of my usual suspects and haven’t made a Target run. Hey, it didn’t end up in the trash which is where a lot of skin products go for me.
3 Ipsy bags
All in all, a very fun bag of goodies, and over $60 value for one bag! As always, we can’t wait for next month! Way to go, Ipsy. 🙂
