Paige– These were so fun to review! When Holly Jurick, of Younique products, sent these to me, I was very impressed by the presentation. The package came with a very cute hand written card, tips on how to use the products and how she creates her day looks, (which can be found on her Facebook page- Holly Johnson-Jurick ) and a card with the info for ordering or hosting a party at her Younique website- youniqueproducts.com/hollyjurick. The colors she sent were: Confidence (a dark coppery brown), Sexy (a bare pink shimmer), and Regal (a rich purple). There is also an amazing fiber mascara (it was not included) that we all want to buy as soon as we can!
To the reviews!
Blake: I had really wanted to review this product, so it was an awesome surprise when my amazing cousin Paige sent me a pigment to review. This is just a great highlighter for me. I use it when I contour and when I want to highlight my eyebrows (which at the moment need to get done, lol). I also mixed it with my eye shadow to add a pop for days that I just feel blah. I love that I can’t feel it but it’s there and that It has more than one use. Lets face it, make-up is expensive, so I want things that have more than one purpose or can provide me with more than one look. I absolutely love this product and want more !!!!!
Megs: I really like the color of this pigment. It was rich and deep without being too sparkly. Just a subtle shimmer. It went on well and stayed well. I haven’t tried blending it with other like pigments, but don’t think it would be too hard to do given how well it held. 🙂
Paige: This stuff was awesome! Stayed on all day with NO creasing, which NEVER happens for me. I was really impressed with the selection of colors available on the site. Holly knows me and my coloring, and sent 3 PERFECT shades to try. Two neutral and one awesome purple that I cant wait to wear again. I was lucky enough to be able to test all three and use some of her tips before I had to send them on to the rest of the girls to review.
I tried these colors as mix-ins, blends, and single colors, as well as eyeliner, wet and dry. I also used the darker coppery color, Sexy, as a contouring powder. The pigments did it all, and with the color called Confidence, we even got some highlighter action out of it!
I even went a bit crazy and decided to try mixing some of that purple with a clear nail polish to see what would happen. It was beautiful! I’m sure that is not what these pigments are intended for, but its neat to see there is so much that can be done with them.
Talk about an amazing product with multiple uses. We all decided we need to try more. Also, because we are a sample review site, I have to give Holly props for sending out three colors and even though they are standard sample sizes, they will last us for a long time, because you just don’t need that much product to make a big impact.
Thanks Holly, I know we will be visiting your site soon to make some purchases!
Well, we LOVE THIS BAG! It’s so cute and we love the functional strength of the canvas, though we all thought it seemed a little cheap feeling once we opened it.
So- Here goes!
Pixi By Petra Beauty Bronzer in Summertime
Paige– I really like this bronzer. The formula is soft and silky going on, and it is also very sheer. It makes for a perfect daytime look when swept over the cheekbones. (It also softens the look of my sunburn from this weekend)
Blake– I haven’t been big on bronzers but lately I have been trying to learn the art of contouring and this is the perfect product to learn with. It goes on very light which is a must for me. I will give this product 4 Ipsy bags.
Bella Pierre Waterproof Gel Eye Liner in Ebony
Paige– I don’t like the Bella Pierre line very much, and this is really no exception. This smears way to easily and is very greasy on me. I found this had smudged and traveled by the time I made it into work. The color was a nice strong black though for the first 45 minutes or so.
Blake– So, this weekend, I took my mom to DragCon, and thought that this would be a great opportunity to try this little baby, and boy am I glad I did. I generally don’t really like pencils because the color, over time, becomes dull to me but this one was outstanding. First it glides on like a liquid eyeliner which I love and the color lasted all day. Only defect is where you put it is where it stays. I give this product 4 Ipsy bags.
Bare Republic Natural Mineral Sunscreen in SPF 30
Paige– I always love to see sunscreens in my bag. It’s a product I use EVERY DAY, so I’m stoked to try this one out. It was very light and sunk in really fast. I really like this one!
Nuxe Paris Reve De Miel- Face Cleansing and Make-up Removing Gel
Paige– This was an interesting brand that I have never tried before. The product works as it says it will, and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. But OH THAT SMELL, it’s GOT TO GO… Pungent is the only term I can use to describe it, like horrible incense.
Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip Gloss and Ozone 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil in Ultimate Ozone
Paige– I got two samples of the lip gloss, one in the shade Bittersweet, which was scary in the packet, but actually a kind of pretty pink purple when on and would be a great date night color. The other shade was Failbait, which is a PERFECT pink and is a great color to wear on a daily basis. As for the liner, I did not see a difference when using it under the gloss, but I also don’t use lip liner on a regular basis so I wasn’t really sure what to look for. (Sorry about the flash guys!)
Meg– The two colors came with the pencil. One is useful (Failbait) and one fun to put on in makeup experiments (Bittersweet). So the pencil is supposed to go on first and fill in lines, keep everything in place, and stay creamy. I honestly could not tell the difference on the half of my lips that I used the pencil and the half I didn’t. I really like that they showed the other colors available. I’d love to try 69 and Quiver. On the other side was an ad for another of their products (sheer revolution lipstick) which I now really want to try. I’m a huge Urban Decay eyeshadow fan and am glad for the chance to try their lip line.
Blake– First off I love Urban Decay so I was very excited to receive one of their products. The thing is I don’t wear enough lipstick to try the product so I waited until I went to DragCon. This product makes me want to wear lipstick every day. I put it on and waited for it to set then applied my lip color. I will say it didn’t last 24/7 but it did last about 5 hours on me and I was eating and drinking too. Not only was I happy, but some of the queens were asking how my lips looked flawless. Ha! I give this product 5 Ipsy bags.
Skone Pretty Eyes Automatic Eye Liner in Navy:
Meg– It goes on well and smudges nicely. It says navy, but it is a really bright navy. I wish it was a bit darker so that I could use it for everyday, but this will be fun for girls nights out in flirty dresses
Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches
Meg– I got two. I don’t know if that was a mistake or not, but I’m glad. They feel nice on and while I can’t really see any differences, they definitely are soothing.
It Cosmetics CC+
Meg– Goes on nicely. Doesn’t smell very strongly like some other CCs I’ve tried. I love that it’s 50spf.
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave-in Conditioner:
Meg– It doesn’t smell very good. That is the first thing I noticed. It smells like chemicals. On the plus side, my hair is softer with it in.
Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream and Peter Lamas Detoxifying CitrusC Facial Cleanser
Blake– Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream- I absolutely love this product. I get a little skeptic about hair products because usually they leave an oil aftermath. This product left my hair smooth, shinny and silky. I just dab a little on my hands and work it through my damp hair after I shower and the end result is amazing. I give this product 5 Ipsy bags.
Peter Lamas Detoxifying CitrusC Facial Cleanser- I’m not really big on cleansers because my skin is very sensitive and will breakout or turn my skin red. This one didn’t do this it just made my skin super dry. I give this product 1 Ipsy bag.
Wow! This month’s box is a work of art!
What a fun box top this month with the comic character like makeup girl. And a surprise treat? There was a little bag inside this month. Very cute, sturdy, and a welcome treat from a box that we already love the packaging on.
We love it!
The makeup bag was cute and came with a mystery discount code that I haven’t tried yet, but its always nice to get discounts
Julep Gel Eye Glider-Smokey Taupe
Paige- I don’t wear a lot of eyeliner, so samples are a good size for me, but, if I get the odd full size, in a good color, I’m happy. This one happens to be a nice color, and a good eyeliner in general, actually. It smudged easily, but didn’t move once I was finished. I’m very impressed.
Paige- Oh My Gosh, did this color ever intimidate me. I have seen this brand in stores and have stayed away because I thought “No Way will colors like those look good on me, they are way to saturated” Was I ever shocked, then, to try this out and find that its actually quite lovely!
One coat was sheer enough to be great for regular daytime use, and two coats were perfect for a brighter lip. It goes on glossy and is not tar like at all. It feels super, and looks awesome. Definitely will be using this this summer
Megan- Lip Tar Stained a gloss in Meta: no joke, the color scared me in the box. It looks almost like a neon raspberry. The fun of lip tar (besides it staying for a long time) is that you can layer it so that you don’t have to have full impact of the color immediately. The barely there brush gave my lips a nice color that works with anything and is almost matte immediately but doesn’t look like your lips are dry. A second, heavy layer gives you a sheen of slick color that is fun without being overwhelming. Good for heading out after work or to a summer picnic in a flirty dress. A third coat was a bit scary. I’d save it for Halloween or someone with a bolder, more golfer skin tone than me.
Este Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum
Paige- I am more concerned with faint wrinkles at this point than dark spot correction, so this did not really interest me, but I’ll take a sample of this brand any time. I have always liked Este Lauder, and this really is no exception, but I might pass this onto my Mom or Mother in Law and see if they can use it.
Paige- This packaging was so pretty! I like getting perfume bottles, as opposed to vials, so this was nice. The scent is kind of a different story. I’m getting over a cold, so I either cant smell anything or I smell EVERYTHING. This hit me as being very “Fumey” lots of alcohol in this product, and the smell lingers… Once it drifted off and had been on my skin for a while though, the scent is pretty nice, a little strong, but nice.
Megan- Well, this was the disappointment of the box. The packaging was so cute and it was a lot of spray to get in a sample but the alcohol scent when sprayed is so strong and dissipates so slowly that there is no way I will ever wear it. That is sad because once you let the alcohol scent go away (no joke it was at least fifteen minutes before I could smell my wrist without recoiling) the scent is actually fun. A little heavy but there are nights out when heady is a good thing
Marakesh Endz Split End Mender and Preventer
Paige- Anything with Argan Oils is a must try for me, and this is no exception. It made my hair really soft and I instantly noticed a slight difference. Im sure with regular use, it will show a great improvement
Megan- Granted I don’t really have split ends to worry about (one of the perks of not using heat tools or a blow dryer on my hair, basically ever), but this smelled really nice. Not overpowering and left my hair feeling very nice. Did nothing for my extreme flyaways but not much does…
We love that Glossy Box always takes into account your coloring and I have have yet to receive a bad color choice from them.
Well, this subscription started out fine (not great, fine). However, after month number three of products that I couldn’t care less about, for $21 per month, (!) you had better believe I have canceled. (Beauty Army starts next month! WooHoo!)
Previse Nutrify Step 2 – well, i don’t have step one or step three like it says will be the most beneficial so this is a little on the useless end to me (I’m a sucker for a complete all-in-one, or a sample that has all the steps included even if they are smaller portions). There is a whole lot of tonic here, especially since you only use 10 drops at a time. It was fine. Soaks in super fast and isn’t greasy. Nothing earth shattering. I’m not exactly sure that I can tell any difference whatsoever. It certainly isn’t taking the place of a moisturizer.
Needless to say, I am unimpressed again this month- both with the value of the box and the products with in. Cant wait for my first Beauty Army Box!
